District 9 (some spoilers) by lukasz79

Rarely I watch a sci-fi movie and impressed to the point of ‘could this really happen’. I spoke of movies before but never wrote or critiqued any of them. My remarks were given in the 1-10 star scale on IMDb… usually

I grade high cause I can spot a descent piece of film in about ten minutes or even just a preview.
This is a flick filled with action, drama, and most of all, questions about ourselves as species. How far how we evolved as to tolerate other form of life unlike ours….I don’t even have to bring up the race issue going on amongst ourselves. Is there life in the vast universe ? Well…. this movie answers that question. It raises so many more about our motives towards others as nations and as corporations (to put it plainly).
This is just what left me feeling at the end of it. It’s fast paced and the aliens are a vision opposite that of E-T….lol. Imagine a giant cockroach with a coarse sounding voice on the average, about 7 ft tall.
The premise of the movie is that these ‘aliens’ are just working units from their planet. They were lost or ran out of fuel to get back to their planet and their space ship was stranded, floating over Earth. Years go by and our tolerance towards these working drones grows thinner. There’s a few million of them so they had to be confined as not to disrupt our society.
There’s always a plot hole any movie nerd/geek will find but this one covers its’ own. I think I gave it 10 stars on IMDb …they don’t make an 11th one so my current rating stands as is. I’d recommend it to anyone.
A huge issue in the film is also gene crossing or evolution of a specie. Probably the main driving point in the film… there’s something in this movie for everyone. And, there shall be a sequel …has to be.
