Welcome!

Here you find a selection of my photographs, I hope there are some you find interesting.

I started becoming interested in photography when my Dad gave me my first camera… I must have been about 8 or 9 at the time. My Dad was always taking photos, and so to me it seemed natural to be carrying a camera all the time. As a result, there exist many many photographs of me and my brother as children – a fact I never thought I would appreciate, but now I’m starting to treasure these images.

I’m probably a bit old-fashioned in that I still own a Canon A1 that I used for a long time with 35mm slide film… And I don’t believe that owning the latest technology necessarily produces good pictures. I’m not too keen on digitally enhancing my photos, so I tend to just do what I see as the bare minimum. Perhaps some straightening/cropping, but not a lot more if I can help it.

Most of the images on this site were taken either in Yorkshire or in South-West Ireland. This reflects the places I have spent the most time in during the last 5 or 6 years. I am interested in landscapes, as well as the natural world in general (especially birds), but also in unusual views of everyday places and objects.

Most of these images were taken using a Fuji FinePix S9600, although some of my images were taken with other cameras. I have just acquired a Pentax K200d so will be adding more photos shortly.

I hope you enjoy my images!
Your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.

NEWS – As of today, 2nd July 2009, all profits from the sale of my work on redbubble will go to the RSPB (www.rspb.org.uk) .
The event which prompted this was the discovery of a dead heron by the tracks of the local train station, and the realisation that not many people around here are interested in or care about birds and other wildlife.
