My Journey
A 37ft yacht, the Indian Ocean and my mind…
It is black. I am completely surrounded by endless dark. No matter how far I look, it seems like nothingness. And I feel so free. I am more grounded and intuitive than I’ve ever experienced. I feel empowered. I am experiencing something so unique and amazing in this place. Then, the sounds ground me. Water. Slapping sounds. Air. I feel the spray dampen my body. Suddenly, I am scared. The peacefulness leaves my mind. A splash and I am dampened again. Feeling for a light, my heart increases it’s pace. I search frantically then shine my torch overboard to find the most incredible sight. I momentarily decide I must be the only person on earth privileged to spend my sailing watch with a pod of dolphins. They play, as if they are children filled with laughter. This is their time.
As the sun rises I’m given natural light to watch these creatures. My face hurts from smiling. I find myself talking to them out loud. And being crazy enough to think they understand me! This is my place. One of my favourite places… where I can open the pages of my mind and travel again and again.
