Fantastic shot, you must be really sneaky and quiet.

  • Lucy Hollis replied

To some extent maybe, but I visited Skomer Island at the peak of puffin activity in June, and as a third of the British puffin population is actually found on this very small island, I wasn’t short of models!

Or have a great zoom. This is an amusing picture.

  • Lucy Hollis replied

Both… But there were definitely a few photos I missed because I couldn’t zoom far enough away…like when they waddled across the path just feet from me!

Omgosh I think he gave up on his diet love the shot beautiful bird.

  • Lucy Hollis replied

!! Yeah I’m not sure she would even open her mouth to eat them!! But actually these are most likely for the chicks down the burrows. So she’s not so greedy really!

I was wondering if she shuffled them around somehow so she could swallow them, or drop them and eat them one by one (and risk them being nicked!!!) – but I guess she’s a typical unselfish female as you say and taking them home for the babies … awwwww. Cracker of a capture – wonderful.
