The haunted bookshop

I had heard about the haunted bookshop a few times on TV, so I decided to go because I like reading up on the unexplained. I happen to be a skeptical believer, if it can’t be proven to be a hoax, I’m willing to believe.
So I found it in a rather flash area of melbourne and upon entering, found myself in a small shop that wasn’t well lit or decorated. (There was a plastic skeleton. Need I say more?)
I was interested in a particular thing, but I’d had trouble finding it on the internet, so I knew that I wouldn’t find it in here. So I decided to just find a book and go.
The clerk asked me if I was okay, I replied I was but it was merely an automatic response. I did want help as I couldn’t decide. So after a bit more looking, I went over to the clerk to try and get some help.
I said I’d read some of the books on the shelf (about 6-7) and asked if he could make any suggestions.
The response was that because I didn’t know what I’d read, he wouldn’t be able to help me. I responded that if he suggested something, I’d know if I’d read it because I’d remember the name.
I got a similar response that sounded like I was inadequate at remembering what I’d read.
I just wanted some help, I don’t know if I’d managed to offend him or something, but I took it quite personally. Luckily for him, I managed to keep my anxiety in control to actually find a book and buy it (he was perfectly nice then, but he’d already made a very bad impression on me) because I was shaking majority of the time I was in there after asking for help.
I just thought I’d share my experience as I am now never going to go back there ever. And I don’t want anyone else to have to feel the way I did.

Nope. I asked him too and he basically was being a smart arse. Considering that I know what it’s like in retail, I try to be a good customer, which is why this shocked me so much
