Red Tailed Hawk
Wow .. I was so absolutely thrilled to see this today .. I went to the bank and was later going to the woods to take a few photos ..I looked up because everyone one else is looking up…and there in the city ( not right downtown ) , sitting on a ledge where pigeons usually are on a store is this magnificent bird … Surprized to say the least !! Im so glad I had my camera with me .. I cant believe that hes living in this area .. lots of cars & people ..silly bird .. theres forest woods and a valley not to far from where I was and live .. This is so unreal to see him where I live !!!

This is a beautiful bird … when I saw this I imediatley thought …”when your backs against the wall… take flight” ...just a suggestion for a inspiration card or a different title… its amazing what you can jag a shot of when you keep that camera with you at all times… I know I have kicked myself heaps of times when I have left the camera at home thinking I wouldnt have time to take photos and then that once in a life time shot appears … missed a wedge tail eagle the other day :(

This is a red-tailed hawk… I’m sure others above have already mentioned that. Awesome pose by him, with his tail feathers butted up to the wall. – did he take off just after this shot? Neat shot…...... This is a good example of why we should never leave him without our cameras. =)
Lucindawind replied
Hi Kimberly .. thanks for looking and commenting .. he didnt take off after that ..I think the ledge was too small for him and he was backing up to get comfortable …. his feathers went up as he backed up .. he wandered around for awhile on the other ledges before he flew off to a lamp post lol

Mui-Ling Teh
Surprising indeed; I’m not too far from Toronto, and I’m working there now. And not only is it rare to find that kind of bird in that kind of context, but it is also rare to see it in that kind of position (I think…). Wow you were really lucky, and good thing you had your camera; you got a REALLY good shot of this!
Lucindawind replied
Hi Mui-Ling.. thanks so much.. I see that you are in Thornhill… it would make more sense for you to see one of these where you are then where I am lol ….. and yes his postion is really rare I think .. he was backing up on the ledge I think to get more sure of himself or else he was trying to back off from all the people looking at him lol
Mui-Ling Teh
Yes I suppose it would make more sense to see one of these in Thornhill; and yet I haven’t as far as I can remember; which makes it all the more surprising that one appeared in downtown Toronto! Gosh its legs look big and furry… more like wolf legs than bird legs…
Frank Legault

Becks7
WOW Ells, really cool shot and those birds ARE awesome; he was prolly lookin for a Squab pie girlfren! LOL
They usually don’t go around human pop. places tho.. We had a mated pair where I lived in South Carolina years ago; the male lit down one day on my clothesline four feet from my ex hubby and freaked him out lol; they are NOT smallish birds…
He’ll keep snakes and other nasties under control for ya.
HUGS; stay warm up there, spring’s just around the next corner!!
Lucky shot hon!! NICE capture
Becks
Luci Mahon
