I’m Larry Selbiger and for everyone’s sake, I will make this a brief introduction…
I was born in March of 1962 in Wayne, N.J.
As a boy, I started drawing when I was 5.
I loved comics and Snoopy was always my personal favorite.
I was fortunate to travel with family to places like the Virgin Islands and
amazing Rocky Mountain Ski Resorts.
Snow is my one of my passions.
Because of all the places I was blessed to experience,
I gained a great respect, appreciation and love for the outdoors,
nature and especially animals.
After high school in 1980,
I was off to Syracuse University certain I would become an Illustrator,
however, life and a bigger picture intervened, and I became a Product Designer.
Graduating in 1985, it was time to move to the Pacific NW
where I could finally enjoy the amazing outdoors and all it had to offer.
My career started out creating illustrations of airplane
interiors for Boeing (or should I say Boring?) in Seattle.
Highly motivated to find challenge and use my skills,
I ran, literally, to the footwear industry where,
for the bulk of 25 years,
I’ve been designing shoes of all varieties;
brands such as Nike, AND1, K-Swiss and Underarmor to name a few.
Also, having my own design business,
allowed for creation of the occasional toy, goggle, bag, and logo.
Through my passion for drawing,
I realized the joy of creating images
that remind me of time spent in nature with all its marvels;
the simplicity and calm that was present.
During my life I have expressed my art in many mediums,
but painting with Watercolors is what fascinated me
as the most authentic way to capture the simplicity and calm I love so much.
That is why I have chosen this particular expression for my art.
That is, until …..
I was introduced to the computer program Adobe Photoshop in 2001 for work,
and recently I started using it to also express my art.
For me, it is exciting to see the vivid creation on the screen reproduced
as colorful and come to life on paper in front of me.
My hope is that you will look at these images
and find a peaceful place for yourself,
if only for a moment.
These are just a few examples of my work and I hope you enjoy them.
