What Am I? (Solved by bubblehex08) by

Can you figure out what this is a photo of?

Solved by bubblehex08

Answer: sun shining through a kid’s purple sippie cup with apple juice onto a sheet of white paper.

What we do know:

  1. It is light shining through something.
  2. There is a paper texture somehow involved.
  3. The light is not shining from behind the paper.
  4. There is no electricity involved.

It is not:

  1. brown paper bag
  2. fabric
  3. curtains
  4. rice paper
  5. oriental lamp shade
  6. onion skins
  7. gas flame
  8. coffee filter
  9. scanner
  10. fiber optic lamp
  11. a naked person

is it light coming through a brown paper bag?

  • Very observant with the details! On the right track, but not quite it.

so, it’s light? …. has texture of fabric, maybe curtains?

  • Yes on the light. Not a fabric texture. You seemed to pick up on the paper texture though…

A gas flame and a coffee filter?

  • Nope! I’m pretty new to this group – do people usually give hints if nobody is getting close? If so, after how long?

We usually keep going until someone finally hits it, or until you just can’t stand the suspense and drop a hint. This one is nowhere near that point for most of us.

  • Cool. Thanks for the reply! Everybody keep on guessing!

So, is it paper? Two layers? More than one kind? Paper and something else?

  • The paper is not causing the light effect. The light is shining onto the paper from above it. Just plain old printer paper.

    REFRACTED LIGHT ON PURPLE PAPER

  • Refracted light – yes. But what is causing the refraction? No purple paper.
