'WHATS ON THE MENU TODAY!' two imm. Superb Blue Wrens. by

These immature wrens came to see if I had put out some cheese this morning. It is the only way I get them close enough for me to photograph. They are so tiny and quick. We now have a two groups around the garden & yards making 11 in all. The two in photograph were from a two nesting’s in Spring/Summer from one pair and have been more around the house than the 2nd group. The two males from this group only have a blue tail until they find a mate from another group and then they will show more blue feathers all year round. They are tiny & very quick always on the move a real pleasure to have around. up to 14 cm from tip of tail to beak. Mount Pleasant, Adelaide Hills. S.Aust.

Cute capture of these little birds. Nice setting for them. -Judy

  • It is just impossible for me to get a close-up of them with either of my camera’s so had to cheat a bit. They sure love the cheese, but only give them a little each day. They take a quick jab fly off and go looking for bugs & insects again so they really mix up there diet. Thank you for your lovely comments:)Rita.

Nice capture. These remind me of our Pacific wrens that we get along the British Columbia coast – no blue feathers through.

  • Thank you for stopping to at my profile Olsen. We have about five different shades &colours in the different States of Australia:)Rita.
