We see many of these fascinating native lizards in varying sizes, also blue Tongue Lizards, Shingle backs & fast moving Skinks and occasionally brown and red bellied black snakes. The Bearded Dragons love to sit around on rocks or on low branches in trees in summer but dig themselves under the ground to hibernate in winter.
We accept them as being part of our world here on our property in the Adelaide Hills, This Lizard is one of the larger ones and he was watching me watering the plants. Usually when I have finished they run over and drink the water droplets off the leaves. They also drink from the water dishes I put out for that purpose. Every living thing needs water in hot conditions and this summer is no exception with many days now over 40 degrees Celsius .‘Arilka’ Mount Pleasant, Adelaide Hills. South Australia.
