i never met him
not my best work, i was going to put it in journal but for some reason decided it could go into my writing. just a piece about someone i never met but inspired me so much through the words i read. i still go back and read his pieces sometimes.
i never met him belongs to the following groups:
All Out Emotion and Art & Dis(ease)i never met him
but i read his words
and he made my heart leap
he wrote
of so much beauty
he understood the world
in a way that most
couldnt
then he was gone
i shed a tear
because i could feel
the world had lost
something amazing
but if there is a heaven
it has gained
an angel
every now and then
he pops into my head
like a memory of an old friend
isnt that strange?

strange? it’s probably to remind you that there is still hope. I can see him right through your poem, well written.

It a legacy we aspire to Leda..to touch a stranger, make them a freind and leave our words in their head to draw on for strength when needed.. You have been blessed. x

I like this work very much! And I could identify with it, because there’s also someone very important to me, that I never met. And when he passed it felt like an old friend had gone away. And I think I am not the only one.

really? oh good dont feel so silly. i almost feel like i dont have a right to miss someone i never knew but words can touch us in a way that we feel we know an intimate part of that person. i will miss his words. i always looked forward to reading his work and i had only just started so it was a sad shock when it ended. thank you for this comment RapidEdith.

glad you posted this under writings – it amazing when someone, who you’ve never met, can have that effect. not strange, just part of life that reminds us that we never know what is around the corner…xx

This is beautiful and your friend would have been happy.

I don’t care if this is or is not your best work – it’s very good work, and deserves to be read and assimilated because of its heartfelt expression of a very deep and personal reaction to another person’s expressions. It expresses a human connection, in short, and does so effectively and efficiently. If you reworked it at all, you might sharpen and calibrate the music of it – but I’m not even sure of that, since it sings already. Fine work.

I’ve never been in love – even though I’m married. Twice I’ve come across men over the internet (one here on RB) that I could possibly say I was ‘In love’ with; at least in the way they made me feel as I was being absorbed by their words. Yes. I have shed the same tears and can relate to your heartfelt poem. Thank you for sharing it with us and helping us remember those feelings again. Kind regards from Cobie
