Willow Tree

Black shadows cloud my smiles
The joy that once existed
is shaded now
A tall bold willow tree
on a cold winter’s day

A sun ray beams above
yet
it’s course interrupted
Light blocked by dried out branches
And leaves once filled with life

Roots so brittle and fading
A pure breeze, a drop of earth’s tears
Are used up, soaked up in an instant
As if they were never offered

Hopeless it seems
Until one day
From above
Falls a rain so heavy
The willow tree receives nourishment

And when the earth smiles
A sun ray so bright parts the clouds
Shines deeply into each once hopeless branch

Redemption…

My hearts joy
My souls love

My willow tree lives on
Stronger than before

Smiles now released
Free
From the shadows
