Castlerigg Stone Circle lies close to the town of Keswick and nestled between the mountains of Skiddaw, Latrigg, Hellvellyn, Blencathra and Grassmoor.
Castlerigg is believed to be one of the earliest stone circles in Britain and has significant astronomical alignments in its construction making it important in megalithic astrology and geology. The circles origins are unknown but it is believed to have been used for religious or ceremonial purposes.
