Fremantle International Portrait Prize - Finalist!!

I’m thrilled to be a finalist again in the 2013 Fremantle International Portrait Prize! 82 finalists were selected from 1760 entries from around to go into the exhibition and final round of judging. Saturday night was the official opening and awards night which was fab. The winner was Croatian photographer Goran Jovic with his fantastic image “Rain Boy”. Hopefully the winners will be posted soon on the official website, as only a couple have been posted in the blog page (odd).

The exhibition is wonderful, so if you’re in Fremantle over the next week, take a look! Fellow Redbubbler Trish Woodford also made it into the finals exhibition with her magical image “Sojourn”. Sorry, but I can not get a link to her image for some frustrating reason!!

Here is my…

Fremantle portrait prize...WINNER!!

Last night I had the huge honour of winning the Fremantle Portrait prize, with my image “Ideas Man”. The organisers put on a wonderful event and it was fantastic to view all the prints from the shortlisted photographers, as well as the 640 (ish) entrants on the projector. Entries came in from 21 countries, creating a fascinating collection of images. BIG THANK YOU from me to Arthritis & Osteo WA, the sponsors and organisers. And of course thank you to Alan for sharing his character that day :))

Sales and apologies

Just want to say a big thanks to the recent buyer of a greeting card “Washed up” and a matted print of “Josie”…both mystery buyers, you put a smile on my dial!

Also thanks to mate Vanessa for her bulk card purchase – you’re awesome!

Also, sorry for all the work I’ve missed from my watchlist since New Year. I’ve gone into hiding while I try and recover from some nagging aches and pains (which these computers give us plenty of!!).

cheers
Lou

NEPG Photographer of the Year 2011 - Yippee!!

I was so happy this week to be awarded Photographer of the Year at our Perth based club NEPG “Northern Exposure Photographers Group”. A super end to the year for me!

We also had our end of year competition which has judged by Grand master photographer Tony Hewitt . Of course he’s a fantastic photographer, and also a wonderful speaker.

I was also pretty chuffed to receive a highly commendable for Ideas Man & Rising stars. In the open print section I placed 3rd with The grove and Best open print of the year for Draped in blue.

Nadine Henley & Norma aka Tearose also had several placing in the end of year comp, so we were a very happy bunch! Brag over, just had to share :)))

Christian Fletcher workshop - freaky photoshop

On Saturday I went to a photoshop workshop run by Christian Fletcher, who was recently named Australian landscape photographer of the year 2011 (by AIPP) & WA landscape POTY. It was a fantastic day and awesome to see how he works his magic in Photoshop. Not too much techno talk, yet he managed to walk us through various techniques he uses in his image processing, stepping us through some of his award winning images from start to finish. Awesome stuff! If you haven’t seen his website, take a tour here

recent sales - thank you :))))

Big thanks also to Fleur at Interactive Arts
for promoting my work, continued support and recent sales of “Cocos Dreaming” & “On the rocks” on canvas – you’re a gem!
