The day you went away
Ever felt the heavy heart of saying goodbye? In love, in life, in death. Family, lovers, friends. An empty track and sad, sad heart.
Whiteman Park, Swan Valley, Perth.
When I found this little station, I found myself thinking of the work of two photographers:
Don, an awesome photographer who loves trains! He does wonderful landscapes and other great work. He’s given me so much help over the past few years – a generous soul with a great eye for photography.
Paul Louis Villani also leapt into my head. He has some incredible images of trains and train stations. While I wouldn’t even attempt to immitate his style, his work gives me so much inspiration, and got me thinking about how I would like to present this scene. My fav image of his is Still standing

Wonderful photograph. I know what you mean about partings, and it has that. To me, your photograph doesn’t seem sad so much as hopeful. I’ve lived in tiny towns. One of the preoccupations in youth was figuring out how to get out, loved train tracks for that promise of flight. Thank you for the references to other photographers too, I looked. I think your subjects and skill are fine; very different from the others. Inspiration is good but don’t short your own achievement here.
HenkStolk
