Plantation echoes

Plantation echoes

One of the small buildings in the grounds of Oceania House, Cocos Islands. Now privately owned, the property was home to several generations of the Clunies-Ross family, who initiated the trade of coconuts, coconut oil and copra. The plantations were worked by the Cocos-Malay people who remain a unique, isolated community
