159/365 still a bit of green by

Number 159 in my 365 project 1-100 and 101-200
looking for the gifts in the present, each day for a year

There is still a tinge of green to this very determined clump of grass. I have been watching it for 6 months see here – from a fresh green seedling in a depression on the road, to a flattened tuft, many many days of 40 degrees C later, countless vehicles driving over the top of it….yet still there is life!

It is a comforting gift to feel there’s hope for most of us.

I like to play. I find joy in small things and moments where the edge between conscious looking and subconscious seeing becomes soft enough for me to be there for a moment.

I love what this shows about plants and the good description.

  • Thank you Betty!

such tenacity! And so lovely that you have been looking out for it all this time.

  • Its the upside to walking the same road nearly every day for over 12 months….I have grown to know every small depression, even individual lumps of pea gravel have become familiar! The broken plastic comb has been lying on the side of the road now for around 5 months….There are now three white plastic tubes like drinking straws but not, scattered near it, and a mysterious tiny zip lock bag with little tube connecting parts in it. It is comforting to have that familiarity, and makes room for either noticing minute changes, or for just zoning in and walking without consciously noting much at all – Empty mind. Depends on what seems to be needed as to what actually comes!

At the end of your 365 project you will be able to turn it all (or a selection) into a book’! Your wonderful descriptions complement the images so well and you have the gift of being able to put us there on the scene.

  • I have thought about that- how nice it would be to put together as a book. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. Sometimes I wonder if I dribble on too much in descriptions- but I guess the thoughts/ words/ images and sometimes metaphors for me are all part of the whole. and therefore need to be together to be as I found, expressed or meant them. :))
