a speckled longicorn beetle by

a speckled longicorn beetle tootled into my day – some time ago. Actually on my 40th birthday, so quite some time ago.

I stumbled on some photographs I had taken back then that weren’t so fabulous. The beetle however, was fabulous, so I felt inclined to play.

Some time later, my daughter wandered in to find me making a pattern of beetles…..playing with the ‘make seamless’ filter in Gimp and running from there. She thinks her mother is a bit mad.

Much Gimp altered image – only the single beetle here, not the wrapping paper version!

I like to play. I find joy in small things and moments where the edge between conscious looking and subconscious seeing becomes soft enough for me to be there for a moment.
