I had the privilege of going along to the Pingelly Men’s Shed, in order to photograph the presentation of a Community Chest Cheque from the IGA – our local supermarket, for our local paper, The Pingelly Times. Of course I really really just wanted to run amok and play with the lines and light, and the lovely vibe from these gorgeous men. Surreptitiously snapped away, with a few funny looks sent my way! When I was sprung photographing up through the underside of a whirleygig in the roof, I thought I’d better lay off! Small towns being what they are……

This image of the fellas at morning tea, during the presentation grabbed me. For a bit of a giggle, check out the calendar top left! Apparently the one with hot chicks went missing! The one with stud muffins is still here! The owner of the IGA and I both independently spotted this one – and there was plenty of good natured jokes and laughs going ’round!

I like to play. I find joy in small things and moments where the edge between conscious looking and subconscious seeing becomes soft enough for me to be there for a moment.

Wonderful shot – great angle and light. I like the guy giving you a bit of a look!

  • I loved that too ! It was a lucky shot – but I would love to work more on black and white, and doing people oriented work. Like you, I have concerns about posting images of recognizable people without permission. Tricky area! Thank you very much Elizabeth!
