Oils on stretched canvas 25cm x 30cm 2010
One of the works I did at an oil painting workshop with Graham Cox, who is one of Australia’s most famous & highly regarded landscape artists. About 15 artists attended his workshop at our society’s gallery in January.
This was the 2nd work we did & I have to say I really enjoyed the workshop & his style of working,
plus learning how to paint landscapes on an acrylic yellow oxide background & then grid up the scene with a wash. This gives a golden yellow glow through the painting. Very exacting work but I enjoyed how this was achieved.
The sky is in Cerulean Blue which gave a lovely
contrast to the red highlights on the eucalyptus trees. The scene is from an area around Lake Macquarie, near Newcastle from where I was born.
