Pastel 75cmx54cm on Canson paper 1996
Collection of the artist.
An amazing thunderhead cloud appeared over the escarpment & I happened to capture it on camera as I walked down the road. Some of this painting was completed ‘plein air’ as I lived across the road from this view at the time & was able to set up my easel outside to capture the constantly changing colours of the mountains. What was a dairy farm at the time has now been converted into an organic egg farm & large sheds now dominate the landscape where these cattle grazed on the paddocks.
The green grassy hill below Flat Rock is exceptionally steep & the local farmer who owns this particular spot still slashes up the hill on his tractor.
