I am an Equine Artist, specialising in horse portraits in pastel or oils. At times I use coloured pencil or acrylics.
When I am not painting horses I like to work on a variety of subjects such as unicorns, fantasy, landscapes & animals. My other passion is nature photography, especially dragonflies. I just love them!
I have been drawing since the age of 3, sold my first horse sketch at 15, then went onto exhibit & sell my work after I left school. I studied Showcard Ticketwriting & Calligraphy at TAFE for 2 years & also attended several workshops in pastel & oils with various tutors. For many years I was involved with showing & breeding my own Paint Horses & Quarter Horses & I still ride whenever I can. Now I work full time from home producing works, mainly on a commission basis – realising my dream at last.
Inspiration for my paintings comes from a variety of sources,
sometimes dreams & other times from the beauty that surrounds me – in the flora & fauna of our native Australian bush, flowers in the garden, my love for all things equine. Living close to the river I often venture to a special place amongst the canopy of trees where water flows over the smooth stones, with my camera in hand to capture the enchantment. Having a belief in the world of nature spirits, the Faerie Folk & magic I find that it fires up my imagination to create paintings.
The Horse is my animal guide – embodying strength, courage, endurance & new journeys. Also the Dragonfly is another totem always with me – bringing light & colour & the ability to manifest dreams as reality.
I have won over 60 awards in local & regional shows, many times the recipient of People’s Choice plus a few Champion & Reserve Champion Painting awards.
Having been a participant in group exhibitions, I am working towards a solo exhibition.
I live on a farm on the Mid North Coast, NSW with my partner, 2 dogs & 6 horses.
Please contact me if you are interested in a commission. Having received an invitation to submit works for a showing in New York in 2010 there is a waiting list for commissions at the moment.
