Diyabakir is a city in eastern Anatolia….inhabited predominantly by Kurdish people.
It is a colourful vibrant place- the entire city is surrounded with a great wall originally
constructed in Roman times.
The wall is approximately 6 KM in circumference…and can apparently be seen from
One of the locals helped us climb on top of the wall- which was all of 30ft high.
(certainly not for the feint-hearted)
- the views across the Tigris River towards the Mesopotamian plains
was worth the effort….
