In Istanbul, we shall be,
In six weeks time…
To explore the road less traveled…. through to eastern Turkey, bordering its
neighbouring countries of Syria, Iraq, Iran and Armenia.
Our journey so far, has taken us to Vietnam
Laos
Myanmar
Thailand
and India….
I know that Turkey will be so exciting… and totally different again to all I have seen.
Just can’t wait to start exploring a new country….
Though just a few things to organize before we go.
We hate itineraries…
Our travels are casual.
When we cease to be amazed… we move on…
Cheers

All the best Mel, I’m insanely jealous…middle east my next trip for sure. Turkey is such a beautiful place with such welcoming and hospitable people. Istanbul is a true convalescence of east and west and such a rich history. Beautiful food and incredible architecture.
Can’t wait to see your pics, and if you have any of Myanmar and Laos ready, I’d love to shed some tears of reminiscence.

mren,
I have lots of photos of Laos and Myanmar,
But unfortunately they are all on 35mm
Have been procrastinating… how best to scan them??
Have had non-success with mini-lab
Think I will have to do it myself!
It may take time, but it will happen….
Cheers

Hahaha louise I’m so sorry, I got a case of the eyes-rules-brain and called you Mel.
I’m not sure about the 35mm to digi. I know theres special scanners for this. But I think the Kodak shops do it for a small fee as well.

Louise, you will love Istanbul! Everywhere you turn is something wonderful to photograph. I can offer a few recommendations:
The Kariye Church
Justinian’s Cistern
Hagia Sofia
the Blue Mosque
Topkapi Palace
the Covered Bazaar
the Spice Market
the Bosphorus
the Fish Market at night
I was in Istanbul a couple of months ago during a trip back to Turkey where I had lived some forty years ago as a Foreign Service brat. If I can be of any further help, please feel free to email me:

Have a wonderful time!
PS: I am having trouble with a 35mm negative that I want to convert to a digital file that will give me a 2×3 foot print. I think I will have to borrow an old fashioned copy stand and shoot a print with my digital camera!

Hello Louise,
thanks so much for your nice comment and liking: it is an important encouragement to me! :) Your gallery is simply high-quality travel photography!!! Your fan.
I know only Istanbul in Turkey and it is an amazing city, always changing in its places, people, history and cultural influences; a summary of the whole country itself!
Enjoy your time there, I’m sure you will have lots of opportunities for beautiful shots!

This sounds like a fantastic journey you are experiencing Louise – the open approach so often works out the best as one then has few/little expectations and the best experiences often follow.
All the best with the travels and i look fwd to seeing/reading more when time permits.
