Insomnia
(One of my most useful and used discoveries!)
At night
When you lie spent,
Open-mouthed,
Already dreaming,
I lie staring,
Restless,
Jealous.
Frustrated, I try a childhood trick,
Align my breathing to yours,
Match the depth
And speed of your breath
Compressing,
Prolonging,
Waiting for you.
Sleep brings you this rhythm,
Your rhythm brings me to sleep.
