LOL We all had superstitions that we grew up with; many of which we inherited from our own family/parents. In our family, for example, it was bad to ‘walk under ladders’/bad to hear somebody ‘sneeze’…common colds excepted, of course…/bad to have people stare at you whilst eating/-etc. The worst part is these thoughts tend to haunt you for LIFE…! When I go out there and somebody sneezes purely at random; I find myself thinking what’s going to go wrong with this day, next?! I know, it’s stupid to think like that…; but, I’m sorry, it’s just the way I was brought up.

I have the same feelings about religion, too. I no longer go to church every single Sunday; like I was originally brought up to do; as, now-a-days, I’ve come to feel that most of these church people are completely and total hypocrits, anyway! Yet, I still when I’m walking along the streets…and, do pass by a church…go in there to say a really quick prayer or two.

It’s quite truly incredible how much a persons upbringing can still influence and indeed haunt them for LIFE! To me, it’s a case of my family/parents brought me up according to ‘their views’; and, a part of finding my way as being a full grown adult is to break away by questioning and finding my ‘own views’ on life and living, instead; but, oh boy, it’s not always easy, I swear. Just like they say, ‘old habits die hard!’

  • as always your comments are so interesting and astute…great to read and insightful…i devour them and rejoyce in their existence..thanks Paul
