Saw the news footage of the Princess LG and I reckon you have scored the killer angle with this shot. The density of the crowd works really well. Tippin’ a few of the pro press photographers would have been jealous of you being in exactly the right spot.
Lou Green replied
Thanks Col. As much as I tried beforehand to wangle a ‘press pass’ (unsuccessfully .. I might add) to capture her from all the best places as she crept and scuttled around Liverpool over the three days…I was lucky to find this raised point in the corner of a nearby church garden, and poke my lens thru the fence!

Great shot, good to see this and your others of this event. I tried to get there but in vain. I did go to the Sultans Elephant that Artichoke were involved with a few years ago in London. It looks like this was just as magical.
Lou Green replied
thanks for your comments pryere..and the favourites..I also went to London for the Sultan’s Elephant, Francois de LaRoziere created that too but that time with Royal de Luxe…He’s a genius. I see you have a crackin’ photo of the ‘Telectroscope’.. I think Artichoke did that too didn’t they?
pryere
Thats right, I forgot that. I am so pleased that you saw the Sultans Elephant too. Now I dont have to go on about it, but I will for a bit, given this excuse, lol. My nephew and I still think that it was the best thing ever. We got to go everyday apart from the Saturday, when it rained the most. The first day was great, as we saw the girl emerge from her spaceship, then followed her on her way to meet the Elephant for the first time. Other highlights were getting sprayed, (many times), grabbing a wind up bird in the scramble and the closing finale. The whole thing was just fantastic, funnily enough, I read that free paper again the other day. Marvellous, I will now shut up.

sorry for the late reply Pryere- i must have missed your reply. i just love it that you’re as enthralled as i am by what these people Delarozière/Artichoke etc are capable of. I went to London on the Sat (and got thoroughly wet- but it was well worth it). I followed the spider for all 3 days all around Liverpool and this time the Sat was the driest day-event hough it rained! I’ve never seen so much rain as on the Friday but there was still a great turnout. And it was just as magical as the Sultan’s Elephant ..people were quite emotional throughout especially at the finale when she retreated into the Mersey tunnel. Also the music was beautiful – she was serenaded by a full orchestra on cherry pickers… and during her quieter moments by a local celtic harpist…Who I think may have been asked to accompany them on their next tour to Japan.Lucky girl. The whole event was gobsmackingly ace. Now I’ll shut up!
