Wonder what this was, regardless you did the usual excellent job at painting it Bill. I really enjoy your watercolours.

  • LorusMaver replied

Hi Jim, me and my brother mikebov are trying to find out, just behind this there are cliffs and on top of them there is an old millitary fort,so we wonder if it has a link with that or maybe earlier !

As I said to Mike a few seconds ago – you two manage to find beauty in the most unusual places! Lots of ‘caput mortuum’ flying around here!!!! Great work as always Bill. In fact, I don’t think you could ever to a poor painting!!!

  • LorusMaver replied

Thanks Lynda, this one was more work than it looks, and took quite a bit of time !

Caput Mortuum is one of my favorite paint names. I was visiting an old fort recently and there are pilings like this on the beach. Wonder what it all means?

Oh, and gorgeous painting AS USUAL. :-)

  • LorusMaver replied

Thanks Tama, right, now caput mortum means dead head, and the colors have been proced over the centuries from different materials, one of them is haematite, oxide, another is from ground up mummies !

    Stunning.

I used to be a member of The Asssociation of Eastbourne Artists. It’s so refereshing to see the Sussex coastline depicted so brilliantly.

  • LorusMaver replied

Thanks Martin,Me & my brother (mikebov) are getting works together for our exhibition which involves not just selecting the works for Sussex but also getting some interesting works & images that Sussex has to offer

A fine graduated light and bright, colourfully highlighted treatment, to the silhouetted wooden posts.
And interesting to include your reference photo – wish I knew how to do that.

  • LorusMaver replied

Thank you Colin for your kind comments.
