Jack London State Park, Glen Ellen, CA
Canon 5D Mark II
Jack London could see this beautiful oak tree as he sat at his desk writing in the cottage he lived in, and he supposedly drew much inspiration from it. The tree is 50 feet tall and 350 to 400 years old, and unfortunately has a fungal disease that almost saw the tree cut down last November, for the safety of visitors and the cottage. Luckily, after further testing and investigation, it’s been found that “Jack’s Oak” won’t have to be removed for another 2 to 10 years, but must be monitored regularly.
