True Friendship
This was one of the most heartwarming scenes I’ve ever seen. I almost missed the fact that besides the cat laying on top of the dog, there is also a rat laying on top of the cat! These three animals were the companions of a homeless man. It is so sad that they are all out on the streets, and I have to say that the animals looked more well-fed than the man, and he obviously loves them very much. And the feeling is mutual, because when the man left his spot for a while, those three sweethearts stayed right there waiting for him, despite the fact that there were thousands of people walking by and stopping to look at them. So I would say that they are all very lucky to have each other. San Francisco, CA

What sweetness and tenderness such image! I feel even more tenderness if I look closely at the tin can with the bear depicted on it as Santa Claus. It makes me wonder about the owner: Who is he? Where he came from? Why he lives now on the street? What about his past? What about his future? Are him feeling lonely?
Oftentimes animals are better than humans!
P.S. Sorry for being so pessimist.

I photographed these guys last year in Bisbee AZ . I found out that the owner spends the spring and summers in Bisbee and the winters in Tucson . The locals said he has a small camper . He has birds also and I was told sometimes he has the dog , cat ,mouse and a bird on the street . Very interesting guy . Great capture !

This is a wonderful photograph – not just for the capture but for the thoughts it provokes. One of my passions is the issue of free veterinary care for companion animals of the poor and the homeless. Often, these are the only true friends a person has and their love is unconditional. The benefits of pet ownership to dispossessed and marginalised people is well documented…. when the animals are unhealthy the health of the person may be (further) compromised as a result. If you see this guy again, tell him the University of California (Davis) vet school have free clinics for people and animals just like him and his.

Oh, thank you so much for the information…If I do see him again, I will tell him. Thank you for the wonderful comment…:)
