Here on the North Devon coast in the south-west of England we have escaped the snow and ice the rest of Britain has had in excess. However last Friday, 18th Dec, provided us with some snowflakes. It was weird walking on snow on the beach!
Couldn’t resist a shot of these two furry Exmoor ponies that roam the National Trust hill behind the beach at Woolacombe Bay. Semi-wild, the ponies usually scatter when they see people, but were quite happy today to soak up the last rays of the sunshine and pose beautifully. A tough, hardy native breed, their winter coats consist of a double layer to keep them warm.
Talking of tough, hardy breeds there were still a few surfers in the water too!
