beech leaf canopy

beech leaf canopy

Looking up at the fresh, green, spring beech leaves with the dark brown stems, t thought would make an interesting abstract. Taken in Heale Woods, nr. Heddon’s Mouth, north Devon.

Many people try to take this shot, not many succeed. You have!
Well done! I like that there is very little sky visable, and I love the dark stems contrasting the bright green leaves.

cheers Neil. Really appreciate your kind comment. I took it some weeks ago with a local competition (abstract section) in mind, and fortunately found a section of leaves/trees thick enough to blot out the bits of light (always accentuated with telephoto lenses), and a particular pattern of stems I liked. I’ve also entered it for current Webshots challenge, worm’s eye view! The fresh leaves are just such a stunning green in spring.

Superb!!!!! It reminds me a tiny bit of my artwork, but yours is oh so much better! I love your tiny and symmetrical beech leaves. :-)

Beech tree hedges are a feature of the Exmoor landscape, and are soooo beautifully bright green when they first appear and quite dense. What attracted me too was the abstract design of the dark stems as I walked along the wood. Thanks for your kind comment Gudren
