Hello,
Thanks for your comments. I have painted with many art forms but particularly love to use dye, gutta and silk. Sorry I don’t know any sites that have demonstrations.
You could try borrowing books on it from the library or try Google for links on silk painting, they may be able to show you how it is done. I don’t know of any one in particular, but I have found that it is not hard if you just play by putting down the coloured dyes, water and putting on some table or rock salt you get some wonderful movement and things happening on the silk. I always use steam fixed dyes because I think the colours are brighter, it takes a while to learn how to draw with the gutta nib, this stops the dye from running everywhere, it is kinda like a pencil but it is a rubber cement that fills the holes in the silk. there are also coloured gutta that you can draw on top of the dye, in gorgeous silver gold, pink, and many other colours.
Good luck I am sure you will love it, if you lived closer you could have done a workshop with me. I liked your photographs, lots of feeling.
Regards Lorna
