As he stood there so beautiful,
his hands nestled warmly in mine.
He just looked at me curiously,
as though he didn’t understand,
his look, one too too kind.
Never let go… I said,
I begged of him so pitifully,
my voice on the edge of a plea.
He wore confusion as a mask,
eyes wrestling with my own,
And then stepped into me.
Never let go… I said,
in a broken pleading whisper,
my need begging for reply.
He finaly spoke my name,
as though asking a question,
I almost wanted him to just lie.
Never let go! ... I screamed,
and he gripped my shoulders,
twas three words I wanted him to say.
In a moment of knowing I shuddered,
I knew his heart couldn’t help it,
and I turned and walked away.

Awww Loramae – I just ache for the truth of this -“in a moment of knowing I shuddered…” and then and there some piece of your heart is just ripped out! And we are the ones who cannot really let go then – even though we’ve walked away – because dreams die hard if they die at all. I so love this my friend – it is so honest, so real and so evocative for me.
