Watercolor on 300 lb. Fabriano soft-press paper. 11×14. This was my son’s first time to the beach. It was too cold to swim but he didn’t seem to care.

Thank you for such a nice comment! He’s now 13 years old and has lost all the cute chubby curves. The reference photo was taken somewhere in southern Maine – probably somewhere near York. I noticed that’s where you live now.

I’m glad you noticed the warm/ cool interaction. I was hoping the cool blue wasn’t overpowering the warm feel of the painting.

Thank you, Marsha for your kind comment. I really had fun with the shadow and getting it to glow. I used windsor red, new gamboge, and cobalt – always works great to get that glow.
