Not all who wander are lost #1 by

We weren’t sure if we were going to be able to make it Khumjung on our way back down ‘the mountain’ as the weather was coming in and we were in ‘sleeping bag’ mode. Luckily, the stop offered more than a sighting of the Yeti skull and street lights!! It was already late in the afternoon and the snow had just begun to fall consistently- this lady had also obviously decided it was time to head back indoors.

The time it must take for people to inscribe their prayers onto the flat stones that make up the chortens is admirable. The weathering of the rocks, the symbolism of the chorten and the serene nature of a lady making the simple journey home make this a special moment.

Really fantastic, where in Nepal was this taken?

  • Thankyou Patty :) This was taken at Khumjung (3780m) during winter at about 3pm. The snow had been falling lightly for a few minutes and I guess this lady decided it was time to turn in.

What a beautiful scene. (I followed Harry and Patty here to see your work, which is great. Sympathies on the ME/CFS; I still have rebounds and know how frustrating it can be. You do seem to have made good use of that built-in extra day or two after traveling.)

  • Thanks Jan- yes, sometimes I don’t know if it’s an advantage instead of a disadvantage- leaves more time to stop and take note :))
