Ama Dablam (6814m)

Ama Dablam (6856m) is one of the most beautiful and distinctive mountains in the Himalaya. It is worshipped by the Sherpa people as a sacred mountain and named after the small container in which travelling Tibetans carry a statue of the Buddha. The mountain is considered to be the repository of the Buddha’s teachings and water flowing from the mountains represents the spread of Buddhism.

I am in a delirium of pleasure looking at these shots of AD — all good, but I think the September and October shots are both absolute knock-outs!

So glad you like it Harry! I think August is my favourite, I just love that the sky came out exactly as it was that day!

A sensational collection of photos of this one of my favourite Himalayan giants – only rivalled by Machapuchare. What a stunning set – I’m with Harry – September is my preference.

  • Kristi Bryant replied

Really glad you like it Richard, it is a stunning mountain isn’t it? I haven’t seen Machapuchare in person yet- is definitely on the cards!
