This photo is dedicated to the loving memory of Gerry Ortega,
Crusader of Palawan who was gunned down in cold blood on the morning of 24 January 2011 at a public marketplace in broad daylight in Puerto Princesa, Palawan by hired gunmen from suspected political opponents. The murder of Dr Gerry Ortega by political forces is the 142nd on human rights crusaders, since martial law was lifted.
He was well loved by the people and the masses, a radio broadcaster who spoke for the oppressed, coming from a family heritage line of veterinarians who care for the ecology and welfare of endangered species of Palawan.
This photo shows the mountain ranges of Palawan, viewed from a beach at Arreceffi Island (Dos Palmas).
May his cause, for the betterment of the ecological future of Palawan, live on.
25 January 2011
