Outside the Lines

Outside the Lines belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical and The Word Tree

Stay asleep long enough
And you forget things have an outline
You forget
Things can’t run together like they do
When you’re too tired to separate
Or identify what is, from what isn’t.
So everything just starts moving
Like colored water, or paint
Wet and uninhibited
Beautiful really.
Until all the color and the luster
And the moistness dries
And that intriguing lack of distinction
Can no longer move you
You’re left with what has run over.
Those blurred cracked stains
Pale and hardened.
Still.
You’ve got nothing
To run your fingers across.

OH I just love these first lines!!! You write with such a delicate truthiness (Stephen Colbert’s word, not mine).
