I feel I’m being watched by a thousand eyes,
But really, I know there are only two-
brown eyes that belong to you.
Something soft against my skin…
So many times, I shall re-live this sin.
But tonight, my love, we do no wrong,
For you and I sing the same song.
Like a drug, I crave your touch,
Those eyes…the eyes that see too much.
Look…there’s nothing here to find,
You and I are the same kind.
There are differences, to be sure,
But similarity counts for so much more,
No two could be exactly the same…
God knows that would ruin the game.
If love is a battlefield,
Is it one, or both of us that yield?
Was it one of us that held the gun?
Or is it that we have both won?
It is surely the latter that is true,
I can’t have lost if I’m with you…
And I believe you would not be with me,
If you thought I was your enemy.
So now I come to my conclusion-
All that is not us, is an intrusion,
What came before, was just to fill the time,
Until the day that you were mine.

I like this a lot. It’s heartfelt, yet falls shy of being sappy- it maintains some mental clarity and expression. Just my opinion, o’ course but I thought that the 3rd and 4th stanzas could be combined to make one much stronger stanza. Again, just my opinion. A good write, all in all.
