Meet Barney. He served in Afghanistan and possibly Iraq as well. After his tours overseas he returned to the US and worked as a training dog for soldiers who were going into combat situations and would be assigned other wardogs. After 8 years of service, he retired because of arthritis and lameness issues. He now lives with some good friends of mine who will allow him to live out his days on a large farm where he can be “just a dog” and enjoy running through fields and searching out great smells………or maybe spend the day laying around. I think he deserves it.

  • I will definitely give him a hug for you. He is amazingly well grounded and calm considering all he’s experienced. Thanks so much and also for the favorite.

Awwwww, he’s magnificent, and what a story, he sure deserves time on the far to live like a “real dog”, I wonder what goes through these lovely animals minds after all they have been through, thank you so much for sharing, this is a beautiful portraite of him. Very Proud and Magestic :o)

  • He is amazing. He watches what’s going on around him, but takes everything in his stride including my friend Kim’s other dog Underdog, who is a hyper young poodle cross (very cute btw) that thinks it’s great fun to jump all over Barney. Thanks so much Josie.
