Third in the series of a titmouse that visits our feeder.

The Tufted Titmouse, Baeolophus bicolor, is a small songbird from North America, a species in the tit and chickadee family (Paridae). The habitat is deciduous and mixed woods as well as gardens, parks and shrubland in the eastern United States; they barely range into southeastern Canada in the Great Lakes region. They are all-year residents in the area effectively circumscribed by the Great Plains, the Great Lakes, the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. The range is expanding northwards, possibly due to increased availability of winter food at bird feeders. -Wikipedia

Sometimes I think half of it’s luck. You can have the best equipment, the most training and still not get lucy enough to be in the right place at the right time. You froze a moment in time and gave us a glimpse into a world we would not have otherwise seen, a unique vision. I wonder who the patron saint of photographers is?

Fantastic capture indeed! Love the angle and POV on this baby!

  • Thank you Kimberly. I didn’t realize their wings expanded so much till I saw this. I was amazed. This past winter we had a pretty hard winter for NC and the birds got used to me sitting in chair by the feeder (freezing my umhmm off). They would come in very close to me.

Isn’t that a great feeling? I just redid my back yard so I can sit there in the mornings & evenings and just watch them with my camera in hand. I just love how they seem to know that we aren’t there to harm them!

  • It IS a great feeling… like they trust you. I’ve also found they come in quicker if they see you actually fill the feeder….even if it already has food in it.
