I’d like to dedicate this image to two very special artists, David Bearden and Steve Harrington. Both are amazing artists and both have shown me how to appreciate the beauty of the black and white image. I’m usually all about color .. the more the merrier … but under the influence of these two gentlemen, I’m learning.
The subject of this image is the capital building of Pennsylvania, located in Harrisburg. Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. Tinkering and texture added in Photoshop CS4 and CS5; some playing around in Capture NX2 and Camera Raw.

Great view, and a very nostalgic look.
Thank you, Martin … yes, when I grew up color film was pretty expensive, so my childhood is in b&w. Also, this was before color tv. So color has always fascinated me and b&w leaves me cold. But I’m learning to appreciate it more and more. Glad you enjoyed it!!!

Lovely image Lois …
thank you, Tom!!!!! It doesn’t compare with your castles and cathedrals, but it is a beautiful structure!!!

Superb work, dear Lois. Great b&w tones. I, also, love colour, but isn’t it fascinating to try and achieve a satisfying b&w image. x
Thanks so much, Agnes … yes I love trying new things. Never satisfied for long with one subject or process. I’m finding that the b&w images that I appreciate are the ones heavy on geometry and line as with this one. Good, interesting architectural images in b&w seem to draw my eye. But not much else, LOL!!!
