The light changes quickly up in the mountains. I snapped this image and several others within minutes of each other … and each is different. Taken on top of Blue Knob Mountain in Claysburg, Pennsylvania, USA, with the Nikon D40x and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens in January of 2009. Not much post work on this one … a little tweaking in Camera Raw plus a sharpening and de noising in Photoshop CS4. Otherwise the pp work was all done by Mother Nature.

    beautiful and skillful composition.
    my best, francis.

  • Francis, thank you so much … this is actually one in a series of shots that I took, one right after the other, as the storms were clearing off. The rest are in here somewhere … it was an incredible day … from gray to sunny and blue and white in a matter of 15 or 20 minutes!!! This one catches the clouds just as they were rolling off the mountain.

  • Vickie, darling!!!!! Thank you … when you get down my way, I’ll sit you out on the deck (or if it’s too cold, we’ll stay inside by the fire) and we’ll just watch Mother Nature play!!! It’s gorgeous up there!!!!!

these moments are such gifts from nature … well captured.

  • Toby, I couldn’t have said it better myself … it truly, truly is. I was telling Francis, this is just one in a series of shots from that day … took oodles of shots in about a 15-20 minute time span as the clouds were rolling off the mountain. Several are posted here, but I liked the way you can see the sun and clouds in this one … thanks so much for visiting!!!!!
