A fun macro of a nut/seed/burr/thistle thingie that I found on Blue Knob Mountain in Claysburg, Pa, USA, on May 21, 2011. Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the Nikon 105mm macro lens, focal length 105mm, shutter 1/2000, aperture 3.5, exposure -0.33, iso 320. Extension tubes used. Pretty much as is … I probably did something to it, but can’t remember what. : ))

I’d like to dedicate this to the very beautiful and very talented Jan Timmons , whose amazing work with macros and extension tubes inspired me to give this kind of photography a try … and who encouraged me and let me into the secret of ‘tubes’ which I’d frankly had no clue about beforehand!! Thanks Jan!!! Love ya, Babes!!!!!

Beautiful 3D look to this macro, Lois! Splendid selective focus on those tips! You’re so kind to mention me, but your talent is purely your own doing, my dear! (Extra exclamation marks!!!)

  • Sweetheart, I NEVER would have gotten those tubes if it hadn’t been for you!!!!! And i NEVER would have attempted a shot like this without YOUR inspiration!!!!!!! So … thank you!!! For your note … and for you being YOU!!!! Most sincere hugz!!!! (with lotza exclamation marks!!!)
