A male cardinal taken outside my kitchen on a sunny day after a big snow, February 3, 2010. Camera Nikon D300 with the 150-500mm Sigma at 500mm focal length.
What a beautiful shot Lois! Wonderful color and detail! I think all 3 of us are singing the praise of warmer times and weather!
Hi Joanne!!!!! Thank you!!!!! I know, this has been a rough winter … I and my cardinal buddy shouldn’t be complaining, we haven’t had it as bad as the midwest or up north … but … I think my birdies are definitely ready for warmer temps!!!!!!!
Yeh bring on spring I’m so sick of all this cold and snow, a beauty Lois well done !!
HAH!!! Hi Curtiss … you’ve had it rough this winter, haven’t you!!!!!! thanks so much for stopping by!!! Always a joy to hear from you, my dear friend!!
that’s impressive sharpness at 500mm. I’ve heard good things about this lens.
Hi Peter … thanks so much. I can’t say enough good about this lens. All of my eagle shots were taken with it, too, and those were in flight. It has to be used in good light, of course, but other than that … I’m very happy with it!!
OOOOO Lois…this is fabulous, I think he may be singing to you! :^)
Hi Beve, honey!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!! Actually, I think he was yawning, bless his widdle heart. He sat on that perch for several minutes (which is so unusual as they usually flit away pretty quickly!)
Lois ,this is sublime ! What a glorious clear shot of this wonderful bird ! I adore these Red Cardinals ,we do not have them in New Zealand & I am so envious !!!Sending you big warm hugs to last you ’til Springtime ….The first of my Autumn Crocus have just popped their heads up so I am guessing Springtime is around the corner for you ! xoxox
Hello, hello sweetheart!!!!!!!! Thank you!!! I so adore these goofy guys … they have such attitude but they’re so pretty, I forgive them anything!!! And don’t you be envious … I’ve been re reading “Green Dolphin Street” by Elizabeth Goudge (have you read it??) and Marianne is just sailing out to New Zealand and I think of you on every page!!! And I KNOW you have some amazing birdies out there, too!!!!!! Yes, we’ve got another 3 or 4 weeks of snow then the winds of March will begin to blow … and spring will spring!!
