One of the beautiful shops along the main street of Harpers Ferry West Virginia, USA. The town of Harpers Ferry has an awful lot of history to it … from John Brown during the civil war … to some pretty devastating floods. A lot of the town has preserved historical elements (including a WAY COOL night time ghost tour of some of the older buildings) … but the town itself is lived in and loved by its residents to this day!!!! Worth a visit if you’re ever in the area.

Check out a bit of interesting historical info from the Harpers Ferry National Historical Park site!!

Image taken September 2010 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. Processed in Photomatix Pro for hdr effect then added to Photoshop CS4 for the addition of several textures. My thanks to Skeletal Mess at flickr and Photo Artist Textures for the textures used.

Just looked at the larger view and saw the detail in the steps. So many feet must have walked on them!!

  • Hey Robin, it’s one of those places that I’ve been to off and on all my life. My family and some neighbor families used to pack up picnic lunches and off we’d go to Harper’s Ferry every fall. Great, great memories of this place. And after my divorce, many’s the time I’d drive up there and just … sit. You know??? Great, great, great place for putting life in perspective.
