A fun fantasy compilation of two of my own images … the baby squirrel image taken in Ontario Canada, the butterfly on top of Blue Knob Mountain in Claysburg, Pennsylvania. It didn’t really happen … but I like to think it could have.

There is a very beautiful piece of music that I listened to over and over and over again while working on this last night (got to bed at 2:00 aml!) … the theme from On Golden Pond … I think it compliments this little image nicely.

Both shots taken with the Nikon D300. The squirrel was taken in the Presqui’le Provincial Park in Brighton, Ontario with the 150-500mm OS Sigma at 500mm focal distance, shutter 1/1250, aperture f/8, exp -0.33, iso 1600. The butterfly was taken with the 70-300mm vr Nikon lens shutter 1/160, aperture f/11, exposure 0.00, iso 800.

Images combined and textures added and blended in Photoshop CS4.

My thanks to Princess of Shadows at Deviant Art and GhostBones at Flickr for the great textures.

  • Hey sweetie!!!! Thank you so much!!! It’s BIG fun … let me know if you run into any snags … you will be amazed at how a lighter texture can realy bring out detail in darker parts of an image. It’s addicting!!!!!!!! Enjoy!!!!

One fine day…..I shall try these textures- meanwhile I am in awe of work like this Lois- absolutely smashing!!! x

  • Hiiii Pauline!!!!! They really come in handy if a background isn’t very cohesive … this one had blurry dark trees … it wasn’t bad, but it was a little distracting and didn’t really do anything for the squirrel … I thought this one enhanced the colors but isolated them, too. Then, there are all the other textures I threw on there just to see what they looked like, LOL!!!!!
