The amazing, beautiful, breathtaking capitol building of the state of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, Pa, USA. Image taken on a fabulous and fun group shoot with other ’Bubblers of the Welcome Pennsylvania group on June 6th, 2009. I am so enamored with architecture … the lines … the angles … the fiddly bits … that I may do a whole series just of this one amazing building.

I know our friends around the world occasionally have been approached by the authorities … cops … police … gendarmes … and asked not to take pictures of public places … so that when I was standing on the corner, snapping away and a police car slid up behind me, rolled down its window, and a deep voice boomed out at me … I did a bit of shaking in my boots!!! Turned around and with the sweetest, most innocent look on my face and said … “Pardon me??” The cop inside the car laughed and said, “Hey, if it turns out, can I have a copy???” To which, quick-witted widdle me shrieked, reached into my camera bag, yanked out a business card, and said “YOU BETCHA!!!” HAHAHAH!!!! So I thought I’d better get one of these up here just in case!!!!

Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens, UV filter. Shutter 1/500, aperture f/8.0, exposure 0.00, iso 500. Post work includes 4 duplicates of the original hand-held .jpeg at +/- 2.00 in PSCS4, a trip to Photomatix Pro for hdr in .tiff mode, back into PS for conversion back to 8bit then some minor tweaking. This is the first time I’ve left an hdr image LOOKING like an hdr image … I think it worked on this one.

I’m gonna need to see some ID young lady…is this your current address? Great I’ll see you later.
Dang Lois you’ve outdone your misguided lawless self with this shot and top shelf post work.

  • HAHAH!!! I really wasn’t sure what to expect when they pulled up behind me … but I’m EVER ready with a business card!!!! Seriously … I was like a kid in a candy store at this place … as beautiful as it is inside, it’s really got some amazing angles and lines outside!!! Was amazed at what hdr did here!!!

You hit it on the nail ! this does look like a 40s postcard. I really do like it ! Hey you will have to let me know if that cop buys one !!!

  • haha … unlikely … but hope springs eternal!!!!! I’ll probably process some others like this one and get a mini-series going … glad you “see” the ’40’s postcard thing going on, too. It really amazed me!!!

Gosh, this is phenomenal…it looks like something out of the Roman Empire or something. REMARKABLE beauty!!!!!

  • Hey Robin, thank you … you’re got it right … I had the same thoughts … as much as I loved Rome and Greece … I sooooo would love to see those ruins as they were. Here, we have those kinds of structures … they’re just few and far between .. but oooo … what fun when we find them!!!!!
