A bit of fun with short dof … image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 60mm Macro/Micro lens. Shutter speed 1/1600, aperture f/3.2, exposure 0.00, iso 500.
BRAVO!! What a gem of a shot…outstanding!!! in every way! Definitely an instant fav….!! love the shallow DOF, comp, title, contrast, soft focus and colours…simply enticing. Your title is spot on!!….xxxx
: )))
Hi Jan … thank you so much … I have several shots of this beauty all with different focal emphasis … but with its widdle hands/fingers/arms coming out toward me, this one really seemed like THE one to post … so glad you liked it!!!!
Oh, and if I can pick your brains for a second, I’m saving up for a macro lens for my newish DSLR but still researching. What make etc is your lens?
HI Jan … absolutely … this is the 60mm Nikon macro / micro. It’s a very nice lens, but I’m toying with the idea of saving up and upgrading. First of all, it does NOT have VR … vibration reduction. And when you’re doing macro, you have to bring along a brown paper bag for when you start to hyperventilate because you’re NOT BREATHING, LOL!!!! I think the one that I’d be looking at (if I had the money) would be the 105mm. The guy I talked to at the shop was telling me Tamron makes a good macro. I haven’t researched the Tamron … but if I were you, I’d save up a little longer and go for the 105 or something like it with VR or OS … or whatever the brand you choose calls it. Also, the with the 60mm like mine, you really have to be pretty much up ON the flower … with the 105, you can be a bit farther back. If you know LynEvans who shoots with Canon, you might talk to her about it. She is THE macro queen, as far as I’m concerned!!! She might be able to give you a little better guidance!!

OH … and best to make sure it has auto focus, and that the auto focus will work on your body!! I went down that road once … very frustrating!!!
wow, love it, can’t believe this is sans photoshop effects, beautiful!
Hi Deahna … thank you … yep every once in awhile I slip one out without photoshopping it to death, lol!!!! The trick to this kind of shot is a wide open aperture … as wide as your light conditions will allow.
Very neatly done Lois. To just have the thought of doing something like this is good but then to actually be able to carry it out is wonderful. Great piece of work young lady! Peter
Hello, hello Peter!!!!! Thank you!!!!! I was inspired by our fellow artists here at RB to give something like this a try … I feel so blessed to be among such amazingly talented individuals!!!
